The very first thought of a Boston Little Saigon cultural district was introduced in 2015 by a few Vietnamese-American community members.
Reemergence
January 2018
The idea of a Boston Little Saigon resurfaces among members of the Networking Organization for Vietnamese Americans (NOVA).
Gathering Public Interest
April 2018
The first public meeting held in the Dorchester community to gather interests for a cultural district.
Cultural District Consultation
May 2018
Meeting with the Mayor's Office of Arts and Culture provided information on the process and criteria for a cultural district.
Working on a Name
July 2018
Many working sessions were held to discuss the name designation and goals for the cultural district.
Finalizing the Name
August 2018
At this public meeting, Boston Little Saigon became the official name for the cultural district initiative.
